Playing reduced orchestra scores can be tough if you're not used to it - trying to decide on the fly which parts are necessary and which are just ornamentation, playing 4-part harmony, but from an SATB score rather than a 2-stave, being able to keep with a conductor whilst sight-reading, being aware of when a section of the choir is struggling and may need help etc are all things that can be scary if you're not used to it, and I don't think I've met a single pianist at a Uni who doesn't have to accompany choirs at least sometimes.
